Anyone Else Getting Major Gravity Falls Vibes from Episode 7?

Started by OwlWatcher87 | 31 replies

I've been watching the English localization of TFA: TRIVIA EXPLORERS! on Tubi Kidz and I can't be the only one noticing that the show is slowly revealing hidden TFA lore.

For those who haven't seen it yet, the main cast consists of:

* Max (German: Max)

* Lily (German: Lina)

* Leo (German: Leon)

* Zoe (German: Zoe)

The show starts as a fun educational adventure series, but the last few episodes have gotten surprisingly weird.

Secret symbols.

Ancient archives.

Hidden passages beneath old trivia halls.

The mysterious references to "The Circle."

The whole thing is starting to feel like Gravity Falls.

Anyone else noticing this?

First of all:

His name is Leon.

Not Leo.

The German version is the original version.

A lot of the nuance gets lost when they shorten names.

Here we go.

I'm serious.

The German dialogue has a lot more references to historical TFA lore.

The English dub simplifies some of it.

Agreed.

The original German version is much stronger.

Especially the scenes involving Lina and the archives.

I watched both versions.

Honestly, they're both pretty good.

But I definitely noticed some changes.

THANK YOU.

People keep acting like "Leon" becoming "Leo" is no big deal.

Today it's Leo.

Tomorrow half the lore gets removed.

This may be the most German complaint imaginable.

Can we talk about the actual mystery?

Because Episode 7 basically confirmed that the TFA existed centuries ago.

There was literally a secret chamber beneath the library.

The old mural was crazy.

Especially the owl symbols.

And the hooded figures.

Don't forget the hooded figures.

Exactly.

The show is absolutely hinting at a secret society.

The creators clearly grew up watching Gravity Falls.

The structure is almost identical.

Fun adventures on the surface.

Huge conspiracy underneath.

Again:

LEON.

Not Leo.

I knew you'd show up.

My bigger concern is Tubi.

Their localization track record isn't exactly amazing.

Some of their previous imported shows had weird translation choices.

I'm worried they'll simplify the mystery elements.

That's my concern too.

The show's mythology is one of its strongest parts.

Hopefully they realize that's why people are watching.

The mystery is half the appeal.

Anyone else think Season 2 is going to focus on Hootlet?

100%.

There is no way they're spending this much time hinting at Hootlet's origins without paying it off.

The owl statues.

The glowing feathers.

The ancient murals.

It's all connected.

Okay, here's my big theory after rewatching the first 20 episodes:

Hootlet is actually Minerva reborn.

I know people laugh because Hootlet is basically the show's nonverbal comic relief mascot. Most episodes treat Hootlet like a Scrappy-Doo, Yamcha, or Jar Jar type character who accidentally causes problems and then stumbles into helping at the last second.

But that's exactly why I think the writers are hiding something.

Look at Episode 3, when Hootlet wanders into the Hall of Inventors and accidentally activates the ancient puzzle mechanism. None of the kids can solve it, but Hootlet presses the exact sequence needed to reveal the hidden chamber.

Then in Episode 7, the mural beneath the library shows a crowned owl standing beside a figure many fans believe is Minerva. The camera lingers on the owl symbol longer than any other image in the scene.

Episode 11 is another huge clue. Hootlet gets separated from the group and somehow leads them directly to the forgotten archive vault. The show plays it as a joke, but Hootlet repeatedly chooses the correct path while everyone else gets lost.

Episode 15 has the scene where Hootlet reacts to the ancient feather relic. Every other character sees an ordinary artifact, but Hootlet becomes unusually focused and the relic briefly glows.

And in Episode 19, when the Circle manuscript is uncovered, Hootlet is the first character shown on screen before the story transitions into the Minerva legend. That feels deliberate.

Across the first 20 episodes, Hootlet never speaks, yet constantly understands things nobody else does. The writers keep presenting Hootlet as comic relief while quietly connecting the character to wisdom, archives, relics, and owl imagery associated with Minerva.

If Season 2 reveals that Minerva was reborn as Hootlet and has been guiding the heroes the entire time, I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

I've seen that theory everywhere lately.

The funniest part is that six months ago the dominant theory was that Hootlet was just there to sell plushies.

Now people have spreadsheets tracking every time Hootlet blinks near an ancient artifact.

To be fair, the spreadsheet people have been right before.

Someone predicted the archive vault reveal because they noticed the same owl emblem hidden in three different episodes.

Yeah but that's different.

Finding recurring symbols is one thing.

Claiming Hootlet is a reincarnated deity because he stared at a glowing feather for three seconds is another.

Counterpoint:

It would be awesome.

Honestly that's become my standard for evaluating theories.

"Does it make sense?"

Maybe.

"Would it be cool?"

Absolutely.

Also seeing people branch off into even wilder theories now.

Some fans think Minerva wasn't the only ancient deity and that the murals are secretly referencing entire forgotten pantheons.

I've seen posts claiming the fox carving represents a trickster god, the lion seal represents a sun deity, and that every animal symbol in the archives corresponds to some ancient supernatural figure.

Maybe they're right, but I feel like people are starting to connect every background detail to a hidden god.

Then again, six months ago I would've laughed at the idea that Hootlet might be connected to Minerva.

Honestly I think everyone is overanalyzing this.

Sometimes an owl is just an owl.

The fandom has reached the point where people are drawing red circles around random bricks in screenshots and calling them evidence.

The German version actually has a few lines that make this theory seem more plausible.

Just saying.

LET'S GO!!!

Knight's Templar season.

Give me:

* Ancient maps

* Lost trivia manuscripts

* Secret tunnels

* Owl relics
